KitchenAid Artisan Mini Stand Mixer

Cute as a button but sturdy as an ox, the KitchenAid artisan mini stand mixer is an asset for any contemporary kitchen, especially one where a lot of cooking and baking goes on.

That’s because it not only looks good, but the mini stand mixer is a dab hand at a number of modern cooking and baking techniques. Want to mix some sticky dough for pizza, pasta or bread? Then attach the stainless-steel dough hook and get going. If you’d rather whisk up a treat, then our six-wire elliptical stainless-steel whisk will take care of that particular task for you. The flat beater, meanwhile, will tame lumpier ingredients into smooth concoctions such as creamy mashed potatoes.

Using KitchenAid’s planetary action beaters

In fact, beating has never been easier thanks to the fact that each KitchenAid mixer uses the original planetary action invented by Herbert Johnston in 1919. The beater rotates in one direction while the whisk goes the other way. This means any ingredients are continually pushed into the centre of the bowl, ensuring everything goes into the mix, leaving nothing out. So successful is the method that it is still the top mixing aid in the world today. You will find that bakers in particular love it thanks to the fact it leads to a lighter, more aerated mix.

And, if you already feel inspired by your original KitchenAid mini stand mixer attachments, then why stop there? Additional attachments can be bought and attached to your KitchenAid mini which will allow you to, for example, produce pasta sheets, make ice cream, spiralise vegetables, grind meat and come up with various freshly-squeezed citrus juices.

Great for a contemporary apartment or galley kitchen

With a stainless-steel, easy-wash bowl of 3.3 litre capacity, this mixer is perfect for tight spaces, such as galley kitchens or small worktops in a modern city apartment. To give you a better idea of its size, the KitchenAid mini works out at 25% lighter and 20% smaller than its biggest neighbour – the 4.8 litre mixer, but it is just as versatile. The only difference is that it produces the recipes in smaller quantities, ideal if you live alone or as part of a couple. Certainly, the artisan mini is just as powerful and sturdy as the larger versions. And, in fact, all KitchenAid mixers are renowned for their durability and toughness. The enamel painted shell means it’s extremely difficult to scratch or bash, while the stainless-steel attachments are strong enough to be put in the dishwasher.

As you would expect from a KitchenAid appliance, the motor in your artisan mini is both powerful and reliable. Happily, it is also extremely quiet. Durability is another quality to apply to the KitchenAid family range and, as such, you can expect to have your KitchenAid mini stand mixer around for a number of years, if not decades. In fact, every KitchenAid stand mixer these days comes with an impressive five-year guarantee – although we don’t reckon you’ll actually need it.
